Home and hospital visits.

We have a small team of people here at St. Peter’s available for visiting those who need a friend and are in need of pastoral and/or bereavement support – someone to listen. If requested, we will try to

  • visit at home or hospital as often as possible and/or make/ keep in contact by phone.
  • arrange transport to and from Church.
  • arrange for Holy Communion at home or in hospital.
  • make contact with the Vicar if necessary.
  • arrange for the sick or troubled to be prayed for in Church and/or via the Prayerline.

Our Bereavement Support also offers a listening ear in the days and weeks after the funeral.

In addition, one of our team may accompany the Parish Priest on her pre-funeral visit and then attend the funeral service. (This visit would only take place at the request of the family). That person would then be known to the family and available to offer as much support as possible.

If you, or if you know anyone who would benefit from this support and care, please contact

Ros Seward rosseward@nullhotmail.com or through the Church Office 01329 847003

Any information given will be treated in strict confidence.

Tea Parties.

We regularly hold tea parties in the Chapter Rooms at the Church, aimed particularly at those who are less mobile and find it more difficult to get out and about. If you know of anyone who would enjoy a cup of tea and wonderful homemade cake in friendly company, please let Ros Seward rosseward@nullhotmail.com or via the Church Office as above, Transport can usually be arranged for those who need it.

All Souls Service.

Each year at the beginning of November a service is held in St. Peter’s Church where we particularly remember and light candles for those who have died, especially during the previous 12 months, although we do remember and light candles for others who have died and whose names have been put forward. Many people feel this service is part of the healing process after a bereavement and gain great benefit from it. Members of the Bereavement Support Group attend this service and are there for a chat over coffee and biscuits after the service. Check for the date and time of this service during the latter part of October.
