Patronal Festival

Sunday 28th June was the day this year we dedicated to St Peter. This year we decided to celebrate it differently and held a Strawberry Tea event before a Songs of Praise service in the evening.

The Strawberries and Cream Tea started at 5pm and was held in the church so that everyone would be gathered ready for the service that followed. Our team of helpers from Cafe Connect prepared and served the tea to about 50 people who came along to enjoy this event. It was another occasion when those members of congregation who normally attend the 8am service were able to meet and get to know others who normally attend the 10am service.

The Songs of Praise service was well attended. People from a number of the different groups from the church came including children from Messy Church and The Puppets. The service started with our Puppets giving a performance of the song Lets Get Spiritual.

We also were treated to a wonderful unaccompanied version of Jesus Christ the Apple Seed.

Rachael rounded off the service by telling us her experience of walking the Camino de Santiago. This linked in very nicely with the Lent Study of our Home Groups who used the film “The Way” as their theme this year.
